Is the search for true love only skin deep? Do looks matter? Is it possible for a woman to fall in love with a man based only what he’s like on the inside -- his personality, sense of humor, and values? The truth will be unmasked on the new unscripted relationship series MR. PERSONALITY coming to FOX (Mondays 9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) later this season.
In MR. PERSONALITY, a young, beautiful and single woman will court several eligible men who must rely strictly on their individual personalities to captivate her. Each man will be disguised throughout the dating process, keeping his looks hidden. While our beautiful heroine will not see the appearance of the men she is dating, viewers will. As the series progresses, the single woman ultimately narrows her choice to one man.
Will she love her new mate after first setting eyes on him, or will she leave him?
MR. PERSONALITY is produced by Nash Entertainment in association with The G Group. Bruce Nash and Brian Gadinsky serve as executive producers. Nash and co-executive producer Robert Kosberg are series creators.
MONICA Lewinsky, one lucky gal and 10 bachelors in latex masks? Believe it or not, this is not the punch-line to a party joke.
They are the elements of Fox's latest reality show called "Mr. Personality," which began filming four days ago on an estate in Malibu.
The show, to be hosted by Monica - who has begun to carve out a fledgling TV career for herself - is the latest twist on the dating game genre that has captivated reality TV. The series is set to begin airing April 21 will air for five weeks.
Lewinsky has hosted a brief British TV series and, of course, starred in two highly rated TV interviews - one with Barbara Walters, the other for HBO - about her adventures with former President Clinton.
Now, it is time to see if she can move beyond the celebrity stage where all the attention is on her and find out if she can direct people's attention to the show's contestants - which is, after all, what hosts are supposed to do.
Still, by hiring Monica, the Fox show has gauranteed itself a lot of attention - which is getting harder to do as the field of reality shows grows more crowded.
"It sounded like good fun," Lewinsky said in a prepared statement.
It is still not clear what kind of publicity campaign Monica will undertake to promote the show. But she has settled quickly into her hosting role.
"It's been a very light-hearted experience so far and her sense of humor is really coming through," a source close to the show said.
On "Mr. Personality," a single woman is courted by 20 bachelors - but she isn't allowed to see their faces or the color of their hair. The men's feature's are hidden by a masks and hoods.
The bachelors have to rely exclusively on their charm and sense of humor to woo the woman on a series of dates.
The only opportunity the bachelorette has to get a rough idea of what her suitors look like is if she takes them downstairs into what producers are calling "the dark room."
In the pitch-black area of the house, the woman is allowed to remove her suitor's mask and feel his face.
The room is rigged with infrared cameras and microphones, a spokesman for the show said.
Already, the bachelorette has eliminated 10 of the men and the remaining bachelors were getting ready to move in together to live on the estate for the next three weeks.
They were also able to trade in their original masks and hoods for new rubbery masks, each one a different color - so that the young woman may tell them apart.
For the first two days of the competition, the 20 men all wore the same, pewter-colored, Greco-Roman masks.
Last weekend, producers had planned a number of group dates, including a picnic and a hot air balloon ride.
